For Garage Project's fourth hop harvest collaboration with East Coast brewing legends Trillium called for something special. For this, they ventured two hours south of Sunrise Valley, to the new Nelson Lakes Farm, situated in the Matakitaki Valley. The freshest hop growing location by their friends at Freestyle Farms. A hop free boil and massive dry hop addition of hand selected Nelson Sauvin and Motueka create a giant, juicy and unforgettable hazy homage to one of New Zealand's most exciting new hop growing regions. The finished beer has a dense, smooth, hazy malt base, with an intense ripe mango aroma and tropical fruit smoothie palate - dominated by mango, pineapple, passion fruit and rock melon back notes. It's Nelson Sauvin and Motueka, but not as we know it.

Beer Festival in a Box!

A unique celebration of some of New Zealand's finest wild food. Brewed using hand smoked pohutukawa malt and finished with foraged kawakawa leaves and an addition of Moon Shell clams to the boil. Rich sweet amber malt, savoury smoke and spicy kawakawa meld with a subtle hint of ocean brine. Originally brewed for the Hokitika Wild Food Festival.

The arrival of hops to the brewing scene in England in the 1500s led to a moral panic, hops were described as 'a Wicked, & Pernicious Weed', feared to bring the downfall of civilized society. Thankfully, they were right.

What is the perfect burger beer? Juicy malts to compliment chargrilled character, hop bitterness to cut through fat and maybe a touch of umami to elevate the whole experience? Say hi to Red Dog - Red IPA brewed with four malts, red rice, Kohatu, Mosaic and Nelson Sauvin hops and red miso. Chewy malt and balanced bitterness, juicy tropical fruit aromatics with a delicate umami twist. It's your burger's best friend!

It's all about balance. Bright California inspired IPA with an effortless blend of clean sweet malt and punchy citrus hops. Mounds of Chinook, Cascade, Simcoe, Strata and Sauvin hops create a flavour and aroma loaded with fresh cut grapefruit, sun warmed pine, passionfruit and a hint of rock concert kush. Cool tricks.

It's malt's time to shine! Screaming Goat, German style Bock beer, a gorgeous garnet and mahogany dark lager where hops definitely take a back seat. Incredibly balanced and easy to drink, with smooth, malt driven biscuit and toasted hazelnut notes. It's malt, with a little Rock n' Roll swagger. Throw me some horns.

Home & Away, a series of rebrews bringing some of our funnest overseas collaborations back to the Garage. For this release we turn to the dark side with South Pacific Soufflé Stout, first brewed with Boston's beer bosses, Trillium. Brewed with Tongan vanilla pods, cacao nibs and Timor-Leste grown coffee beans from Wellington's own Flight Coffee, this huge dessert stout pours an opaque jet black with luscious layers of vanilla gelato, burnt marshmallow, chewy dried fruits and mocha latté. Bringing home the goodness.

Ease back. Sunset Sherbet, Imperial Milkshake Sour, brewed with Nelson Sauvin & Peacharine hops, mango, pink guava and golden peach puree, a double dose of full cream lactose sugar and a subtle twist of mango terpene. It's a hazy rose gold blend of a creamy sweet and fruit smoothie sour, with delicate dank tropical top notes. Like watching a pink blushed sour sun set into a hazy golden sea of tropical sweetness.
